The Business & Finance Division of the Special Libraries Association (SLA) proudly announces a new award, the Impact Award sponsored by Wolper Subscription Services.

In its inaugural year of 2011, the B&F Impact Award recognizes a Division member who creates value by aligning with the goals of their organization through the innovative and effective use of information to impact the accomplishment of those goals. The conference award winner receives a $2,000 stipend to help cover expenses at the SLA Annual Conference. The B&F Impact Award acknowledges an individual or an information center for a specific contribution made within the previous year. Awarded annually to a member of the Business and Finance Division, the achievement recognizes, but is not limited to, such actions as providing a new service that aligns with organizational goals, developing new processes for working more closely with senior management, or training and educational activities that facilitate the achievement of organizational goals.

“We are honored to partner with the Business & Finance Division of SLA to acknowledge information professionals who have aligned their role with the goals of the organization they serve to demonstrate the tangible value of information” said Susan Wolper, President and CEO of Wolper Subscription Services, Inc. “It is increasingly important that information professionals speak the language of their organization when demonstrating ways in which their initiatives create measurable impact and achieve mission-critical objectives.”

The winner will be presented with a check during the SLA B&F Awards ceremony on Monday, June 13, 2011 during the SLA Annual Conference in Philidelphia, PA, U.S.A.

Wolper Earns Additional Diversity Certification

Easton, PA — October 2010 — Earlier this year, Wolper Subscription Services, Inc., a leader in the serials management industry for the past 35 years, became certified as a LGBT-owned business by the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), the exclusive certifying body for LGBT-owned businesses and entrepreneurs.

The NGLCC certification has gained extensive acceptance by Fortune 100 companies since the program's inception in 2003. Participating Fortune 100 companies include IBM, JPMorgan Chase, Motorola, Intel and American Express. In June of 2005, the Department of the Interior (DOI) became the first federal agency to agree to honor the NGLCC's certification, enabling LGBT businesses to bid on more than $4 billion dollars in contracts the DOI awards each year.

Separately, Wolper earned re-certification as a Women-Owned Business (WBE) by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council, the largest third-party auditor of WBEs in the country and the leading advocate of women-owned businesses as suppliers to America's corporations. Wolper is certified as a WBE by the Pennsylvania Department of General Services, as well, and unlike many certified women-owned businesses, which are only required to prove 51% female ownership as a minimum threshold, Wolper is and always has been 100% woman-owned and -operated.

For 35 years, Wolper has provided service and savings to government, public, academic and corporate customers, including many Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 organizations. Wolper’s “high tech, high touch”® approach delivers the perfect combination of next-gen technology and time-proven, personalized service. Besides serials, Wolper also handles books, site licenses, and other information resources, both traditional and innovative. WOLPER EARNS NATIONAL 'WBE' CERTIFICATION

Easton, PA — March 2008 — Wolper Subscription Services was recently certified as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council.

WBENC is the nation’s largest third-party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women in the U.S. and the leading advocate of women-owned businesses as suppliers to America's corporations.

Wolper previously earned WBE certification from the Pennsylvania Department of General Services.

The WBE designation is important to the more than 700 U.S. companies and government agencies that have instituted supplier/vendor diversity programs.

Women-owned businesses have been among the strongest segments of the U.S. economy of late. With a double-digit growth rate, the category has come to include approximately 6.5 million enterprises. Some studies have held women business owners up as key drivers of the U.S. marketplace, creating jobs, demonstrating leadership as good corporate citizens, even influencing management style, for example, implementing family-friendly policies and mentoring practices.

Unlike many certified “women-owned businesses,” which are only required to prove a minimum threshold of 51% female ownership, Wolper is and always has been 100% woman owned and operated.

Wolper Subscription Services has a 30-year track record of successfully serving Fortune 500, Fortune 100 and other top-tier corporate, library and institutional clients. Wolper’s “high tech, high touch” serials management combines extraordinary customer care with a robust online system (WOLPERweb®), enabling 24/7/365 access to more than 300,000 titles andpoint-and-click account management.

WOLPER RECOGNIZED BY STATE AS WOMAN BUSINESS ENTERPRISE

Harrisburg, PA — June 2006 — The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Bureau of Minority and Women Business Opportunities granted recertification to Wolper Subscription Services as an official woman-owned small business.

Certification is a comprehensive process that assures only qualified companies are approved. In addition to owning at least 51% of their companies, “Woman Business Enterprise” owners must be U.S. citizens, must have training or experience in their business fields, and must have management and operational control of their companies. Unlike many certified woman-owned businesses, Wolper is and always has been 100% woman-owned and -operated.

Wolper originally earned certification from the state in 2004.

A WBE certification is desired by many corporate and federal customers who are required to meet supplier diversity standards.
